Leading The Guest To Their Table

Leading The Guest To Their Table

The guest is invited to follow the Hostess or Manager through to their table

1.      This occurs after checking the guest’s reservation
2.     Waiters must be warm and welcoming, using the guest’s name where possible
3.   Remember to lead the guests at their own pace. Check to see that they are following you through to the table
The Manager or host presents the table to the guest show to seat a guest

1. On arrival at the table, indicate that this is where the guests will dine

2.  Use open body language and be warm and welcoming
3.   Create  eye contact with the guest.
4.You may use a phrase like “Here is your table for the evening.”
Ask the guest if this table is to his liking

Adjust the setting on the table according to the number of guests

1.   If there are more guests than there are settings, you must add the extra settings
2.   Do not have the guest waiting at the table while you add settings. Ask them to wait momentarily while you adjust their table, then guide them to their seats
3.    If there are less guests than seats at the table, you will need to remove the extra settings
4. This can be done on the spot, straight after you seat the guests. Place the entire cutlery on the napkin and side plate and remove in the one movement. Also remove the excess glassware
