Introducing Yourself To The Table

1.       Once the guest has been seated the waiter must approach the table within the first five minutes to present the menu and wine list

2.       If you cannot make it to the table within the five minute ask another captain to go in your place or advised the guest you will be back in a moment. When you have returned apologize for the delay.


3.       Once at the table the waiter must introduce himself to the table

4.       Wait for a pause in the conversation to introduce yourself, do this by standing at the end of the table or on one corner.

5.       Once your have been noticed use the following phase.

6.       Please use the following phase “ Good evening ladies and gentleman my name is George I am your waiter tonight I will be looking after your table.

7.       Following this phase, at that moment advised the guest of any out of stock items, and the daily specials. Please see the standard for   (Upselling)

8.       Always use a smiling tone in your voice and don’t be shy and speak up so that the whole table can hear you.

9.       When you are speaking to the table always smile and make eye contact with as many guest as possible.

10.    Never lean on the table or back of the chair when speaking.

11.    Always stand straight with your hands by your side or behind your back or holding a menu or alike.

12.    Once finished always excuse yourself from the table
